Course overview
This one-year, full-time course will equip you with the specialist knowledge, practical and personal skills you need to become a member of aircraft cabin crew and to pursue a career in the aviation industry.

Who is this course for?
This course is for young people aged 16-18. If you are interested in travelling and have an enthusiasm for flying, then learning about the job of a cabin crew member could mean that you never fly as a passenger again.
You will need to enjoy working with people, be able to work alone or as part of a team to provide excellent customer service, and you should understand the importance of good personal presentation.
What you’ll learn
You will study a variety of subjects on this course including:
- The role and responsibilities of cabin crew on board an aircraft
- Airline health, safety and security on the aircraft and at the airport
- Aviation terminology and world geography
- Aviation medicine and emergency procedures
You will develop your communications skills and understand how to deliver excellent standards of customer service. You will also learn about the airline recruitment process and how to apply for jobs. We will make sure that you have the maths, IT and English skills that employers need.
If you have not yet gained a grade 4 (C) in GCSE English or Maths, you will study these subjects alongside your course, either as Functional Skills qualifications or GCSE resits, if you already have a grade 3 (D).
Entry requirements
4 x GCSEs. Must have a minimum grade 4 in English and a minimum grade 3 in Maths.
Applicants must also be able to swim 25 metres while wearing clothes, as this is an essential industry requirement.
We will invite you to a Course Information Meeting event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and ask any questions you may have.
You will need to provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional. This is to ensure we can support you to achieve well on the course.
Future career and study
Many of our students go on to enjoy a career in the air, while others gain related employment in the aviation industry. You might prefer to expand your knowledge and opportunities within the wider travel and tourism industry, by joining our Travel and Tourism Diploma.
Additional costs
You will need to buy your aviation uniform and pay for trips throughout the year. This will be approximately £400.
If you are on a limited income, you may be eligible to receive help with these costs from our Learner Support Funding Bursary.
