Who is this course for?
This course is for adults aged 19+ who want to try ceramics, return to clay after a break or develop confidence in a welcoming studio setting. It is suited to beginners and those looking for a creative, hands-on evening course.
What you'll learn
You will learn introductory ceramics skills such as shaping, joining, building form, refining surfaces and exploring glaze. You will develop an understanding of the making process from initial idea through to decoration and finished fired outcomes.
Course entry requirements
No formal qualifications are required for this course.
No previous ceramics experience is needed. Curiosity, patience and a willingness to experiment are encouraged.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
The course is delivered in-person through tutor-led exercises, live model sessions, demonstrations and individual feedback. As this is a non-regulated course, there are no formal exams. Progress is measured through participation, skill development and the work you produce during sessions.
Future career and study opportunities
This course can support progression to our HNC/HND provision, including HNC/D Film and TV, Graphic Design and Photography. It can also support further creative study, independent making, craft practice or more advanced ceramics courses.
