This course is for adults aged 19 and over who have a vested interest in the industry. You will want to turn your interest in hair design and styling into a creative, practical and sociable career.

This course has lots of opportunities for you to progress and develop.

Hairdressing is an ever-popular industry in society.

With the help of this course, you will grow your knowledge from its foundations to grasp different areas of the topic. Subjects you will study include:

  • cutting
  • styling
  • colouring
  • shampooing and conditioning
  • communicating with clients.

The skills you learn can be transferred onto more advanced courses. This includes our Women’s Hairdressing Level 3 course.

4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including Maths and/or English or a Level 1 Diploma in a relevant subject plus GCSEs in Maths and/or English, or a Functional Skills qualification in Maths and/or English.

We will invite you to a Course information meeting event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

You will provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

Some Level 2 Technical qualifications may require a slightly higher entry requirement based on the specific content of the course. This may include having English or Maths at Grade 4

We are firmly committed to finding the right course for you to ensure that you can flourish.

Talk to us today if you have any concerns about the application process; we are here to help take you to the next level.

This qualification is recognised by The Hair Council, so you will be able to progress into a career as a junior stylist with a wide range of establishments such as hair salons, spas, hotels and cruise ships.

Alternatively, you could:

  • seek an apprenticeship to continue your training while you work
  • progress to a higher-level hairdressing course to develop your technical and creative abilities. This could extend your career opportunities, for example by working in fashion, media, TV or film.

The hairdressing kit costs approximately £144 and the black hoodie is optional and costs approximately £25. Prices will be confirmed on enrolment.

How to apply?

Your admissions journey will follow a number of straightforward steps and will likely follow a similar format to the steps outlined on our ‘How to Apply‘ page.
