T Level Technical Qualification in Digital Software Development City of Bristol College

Get Ready for a Career in Tech!

This T Level course covers core areas of computing, such as programming, software development, and aspects of business. This T Level has been designed to ensure students develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to progress into skilled employment or higher-level technical study.

The course introduces learners to key industry topics including programming, development engines, the use of data, digital delivery platforms, and computer science fundamentals. Learners will explore how to analyse problems and develop effective solutions using computer programs, while also gaining a strong understanding of the role of software development in business and industry. Students will investigate potential cybersecurity risks that organisations face and the importance of building secure, efficient, and ethical systems.

As part of the course’s modern focus, students will also explore the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in computing and how it is transforming the way software is developed and deployed. In addition, there is an emphasis on sustainability in digital practices, encouraging learners to consider the environmental impact of computing and how to design energy-efficient and responsible technological solutions. On completion, students may progress into employment, apprenticeships, or continue to Higher Education to further develop their technical expertise and career interests.
