Who is this course for?
This course is ideal for adults aged 19+ who want to begin or return to textiles in a supportive and creative environment. It suits beginners, hobbyists, makers, aspiring designers and anyone interested in fabric, pattern, craft or surface decoration.
What you'll learn
You will explore a range of introductory textile techniques which may include print processes, hand stitch, fabric manipulation, surface embellishment, colour, pattern and sampling. You will develop ideas through experimentation and create a small body of textile samples or finished outcomes.
Course entry requirements
No formal qualifications are required for this course.
No previous experience is necessary. You simply need enthusiasm for making and a willingness to experiment.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
The course is taught in-person through practical studio sessions, demonstrations, tutor guidance and creative project work. As this is a non-regulated course, there are no formal exams. Your progress will be supported through practical work, experimentation and tutor feedback.
Future career and study opportunities
This course can support progression to our HNC/HND provision, including HNC/D Film and TV, Graphic Design and Photography. It can also support further study in art, fashion or textiles, as well as personal creative practice, portfolio development or independent craft-based work.
Additional costs
Some basic materials may need to be purchased during the course depending on your chosen outcomes, although core materials and equipment for taught sessions will be provided where possible.
