Additional information

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for complete beginners or for anyone with previous experience who would like to extend their knowledge about the principles of interior design.

What you'll learn

During this course, you will study a theory of colour, pattern and texture, and a brief history of British interiors from 18th to 20th century.

You will learn how to design and present a complete room scheme through working to a client brief, producing a presentation board, scale plan and layout as well as resourcing finishes and fittings.

Course entry requirements

This course has no entry requirements.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

You will be asked to produce practical work and build a portfolio around a professional scenario within the context of the subject.

Future career and study opportunities

After completing this course, you can explore a wide range of other creative courses offered by the college, including CAD design courses, which would enable you to computerise your visual designs.

While you will be encouraged to learn and follow your own creative process, we will discuss basic info on beta AI models which are beginning to emerge and can be used to generate ideas, images, moodboards and product boards.

Sustainability is discussed as a part of the design approach throughout many aspects of the course. While this course doesn’t provide all the answers, it should equip you with questions you need to be asking as a designer/client and with a shift in your approach to interiors.

Additional costs

There are no additional costs, but you may need to purchase magazines and some extra items, and it is advisable to have a sketchbook.
