Quantity Surveying Technician Level 4 Apprenticeship City of Bristol College

This apprenticeship involves monitoring and controlling costs and contracts on construction projects. What you'll learn

You will gain the Level 4 qualification in Quantity Surveying for England (6037861X), approved by industry-recognised professional bodies and meeting the educational requirements for Technician status.

Course entry requirements

  • Strong performance in a relevant A-Level subject or adequate performance across more than one GCE subject
  • GCSE grades A*–C or 9–4 in Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • BTEC Level 3 in Civil Engineering, a related BTEC Level 3 construction/engineering course, or a T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for the Built Environment

How is the course delivered and assessed?

How this course is delivered and assessed

Duration: 24 months for the qualification and practical training, plus an End Point Assessment period of around 6 months.

Delivery: Onsite, one day release per week (usually Tuesdays at Parkway Centre).

Assessment: An End Point Assessment (EPA) is required at the end of the apprenticeship. The EPA assesses your knowledge, skills and behaviours through an independent evaluation of your ability to carry out the role.

The HNC element of the apprenticeship is made up of 8 units which all have assignments that are made up of a range of assessment methods which include:

  • Written reports
  • Presentations
  • Technical drawings (CAD)

The end point assessment for this apprenticeship standard is made up of 3 parts:
Part 1 is an online exam
Part 2 is a work place project agreed between the EPAO and employer which will include a 500-word synopsis
Part 3 is a 1 hour professional discussion/interview discussing projects the apprentice has worked on and other workplace activities that demonstrated relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours
