Spanish Foundation Plus

This 12-week (2 hours per week in College) course is is for people who wants to build on their existing Elementary and Foundation Level 1 skills in Spanish and who may have spent at least  one and a half years learning Spanish.

It is not suitable if you are a complete beginner.

There will be a focus on topics such as giving personal information and talking about somebody else’s daily routine.

You will learn to talk about events that happened in the recent past and future projects, say what is wrong with your health and follow advice and reply to invitations either accepting them or refusing them in a polite way.

Homework will be set to offer an opportunity for independent study, backed up with on-line resources on Moodle.

We will invite you to a course information meeting event where you will receive information, advice and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to tour our excellent facilities and ask any questions you may have.

You will be asked to provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

You need 3 GCSEs at Grade 1 to Grade 3, including Maths and English, or a previous vocational qualification.

Some Level 1 qualifications in trade-based subjects may require a slightly higher entry requirement based on the specific content of the course.

To join the course, you will need to have completed our Spanish Foundation course, or to have studied Spanish for at least one and a half years, or to be able to express yourself and cope in familiar everyday situations.

You must also be interested in the language and bags of enthusiasm and motivation.

You will be assessed through informal assessment by yourself and your tutor during the course.

After successfully completing the Intermediate Spanish course, you will be able progress to the Pre-Intermediate Spanish course.

As a City of Bristol College student, you may incur additional costs to attend your course. For example, it is likely you may need to pay for travel and stationery.

Many courses offer learning opportunities that you may need to pay for. This may include things like study visits and visiting speakers. We will let you know in advance if there will be additional costs.

If you are on a limited income, you may be able to receive help from our Learner Support Funding Bursary.
