Who is this course for?
Creative learners passionate about fashion, costume, or textile design who want to develop hands-on skills while working towards university or employment in the industry.
What you'll learn
You’ll study the wider craft and design sector, professional practice, research, project planning and development.
Specialist modules focus on design communication, prototyping, and realisation of textiles or fashion pieces.
You’ll also explore how AI tools and sustainable practices can inform ethical fashion design and creative innovation.
Course entry requirements
Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including both English and Maths (or Level 2 Functional Skills in both subjects).

How is the course delivered and assessed?
Assessment includes:
– Two core exams
– An employer-set project
– Occupational specialism assessments (e.g. ‘Produce Textiles, Leather and Sewn Products’)
– Industry Placement
You’ll complete a minimum of 315 hours (approx. 45 days) in industry. We’ll support you in securing a placement, or you can arrange your own.
Future career and study opportunities
Progression to university-level courses in fashion or textiles, creative apprenticeships, or roles like garment technician, pattern cutter, or fashion design assistant.
Additional costs
Basic art and digital resources are provided.
You may need to purchase additional materials or equipment individually.
Learner Support Fund applications are available for students from low-income households.
