Salons
We have two salons which are open to the public. Each salon is fully equipped to create a professional environment. Our students can train while customers feel relaxed and pampered.
Supervised by experienced staff, our students provide a full range of hair, beauty and holistic treatments. All appointments begin with a full consultation.
Session times vary depending on the time of year. Please get in touch to make an appointment.

City Salons policies
Our salons offer a variety of hairdressing, beauty and holistic therapy treatments to students, staff and members of the public. As a client you are acting as a model so that students gain the practical experience required for their training.
Clients are charged a discounted rate in recognition that the service may take longer than in a high street salon. Students are supervised at a level appropriate to their experience. While every effort is made to meet the client’s requirements (including individual consultations) the treatment may not always be carried out according to the client’s wishes.
Safe environment
The College operates a healthy and safe environment in its salons and expects the cooperation of its clients in achieving this. Equipment and products are used in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions.
Skin testing
All clients are required to have a patch test a minimum of 48 hours prior to their colouring service to check for an allergic reaction. This is required once per term.
When having a patch test we will apply a small amount of tint behind your ear. This should be left and not washed off for a minimum 24 hours. For certain treatments patch testing is carried out prior to each treatment.
If you have a reaction your skin could become itchy, red and possibly sore. If this occurs please wash off with cool water and seek advice from your GP.
Age restrictions
Due to new Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (Habia) guidelines we are unable to offer hair colouring services to under 16s. This is due to the increased risk of allergies in young people.
If you look under 16 we will ask you to bring photo ID which we will scan and keep on your records. Thanks for your cooperation.
Data protection
For certain treatments, clients will be required to answer questions about their health. This information is available to clients on request. Depending on the answers, treatment may be refused or a GP’s authorisation requested.
Records relating to the client and treatments will be retained by the College but some will be required for inclusion in students’ portfolio of evidence. All data collected will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act (DPA).
