This one-year course at our College Green Centre is the perfect launchpad. Studied across 9 hours a week, you’ll get hands-on with all of the essential IT skills to boost your confidence and get you ready for next-level courses like Computing & Cybersecurity Level 2 or Games Design, VFX & Animation.

You will explore different areas, including Modern Website Design and Development, Cybersecurity, Programming, Personal Progression and Communication. Plus, you’ll continue building up your English and Maths with your GCSE re-takes.

You will also explore how to use AI ethically and learn about sustainability in Tech.

Whether you’re looking to stay on with us through to Level 3 and university, or jump straight into an apprenticeship or entry-level IT job, this course sets you up with the tools and skills to make it happen.

What you'll learn

Course entry requirements

3 x GCSEs at grades 1 to 3 including Maths and English, or previous vocational qualification.However, if you don’t have any formal qualifications, don’t worry, simply let us know and we can assess you to ensure that you will be able to achieve well on the course.

We will invite you to a course information meeting event where you will receive information, advice and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to tour our excellent facilities and ask any questions you may have.

You will be asked to provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed in a variety of ways to give you the best opportunity to demonstrate your skills throughout the year. There are no exams, just assignment-based projects.

You will also complete an English and Maths assessment/exam.

Future career and study opportunities

Next steps upon successful completion could be progression onto a Level 2 course; Computing and Cybersecurity Level 2 or Games Design, VFX and Animation.

Alternatively, you could progress on to an apprenticeship or employment. 

Additional costs

The course is free to anyone between the age of 16-18 years of age.

Many courses offer learning opportunities that you may need to pay for. This may include things like study visits and visiting speakers. We will let you know in advance if there will be additional costs.

If you are on a limited income, you may be able to receive help from our Learner Support Funding Bursary.
