Intro to the Beauty Industry for ESOL City of Bristol CollegeThis course is for adult ESOL students that provides a fifteen-week introduction to working in the beauty industry so that you can consider if you would like to pursue this career.
You will cover the basic fundamental skills involved with carrying out a facial treatment, a manicure and a pedicure. You will be required to complete the treatments on other students in the group and you will also be required to model for other students too.
You will be required to attend the planned session every week so that you can build your skills to help you understand the requirements of working in the beauty industry, so a good attendance and punctuality are an essential part of this course.

Who is this course for?
Adults aged 19+.
What you'll learn
You will cover the basic fundamental skills involved with carrying out a facial treatment, a manicure and a pedicure.
You will be required to wear all black whilst working in the salon. You may purchase a beauty uniform if you wish. Further details on this will be given to you by your course Lecturer.
Long hair must be tied back and secured away from the face. Nail Polish, nail extensions and jewellery are not permitted to be worn while working in the beauty salon. The only jewellery that can be worn is a wedding ring.

Functional Skills E3 English and E2 Maths as a minimum
How is the course delivered and assessed?
This course is delivered in a beauty salon at the College Green Centre. You will be assessed by observation and verbal questioning by a beauty lecturer whilst carrying out the treatments.
Future career and study opportunities
Once you have achieved Level 1 Functional Skills in English and E3 Maths as a minimum, you could progress to the Level 2 Certificate in Beauty Therapy or the Level 2 Certificate in Cosmetic Make-up.
