Intro to the Hairdressing Industry for ESOL City of Bristol CollegeThis course is for adult ESOL students and will provide a fifteen-week introduction to working in the hairdressing industry so that you can consider if you would like to pursue this career.
You will cover the basic fundamental skills involved with carrying out a consultation, a shampoo and conditioning treatment, how to blow dry and style the hair, and how to set the hair using rollers to create a style. You will learn some of the techniques on a blockhead and you may also be required to complete the treatments on other students in the group as well as model for other students too.
You will be required to attend the planned session every week so that you can build your skills to help you understand the requirements of working in the hairdressing industry, so good attendance and punctuality are an essential part of this course.
You will be required to wear all black whilst working in the salon.

Course entry requirements
Functional Skills E3 English and E2 Maths as a minimum.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
This course is delivered in a hairdressing salon at the College Green Centre. You will be assessed by observation and verbal questioning by a hairdressing lecturer whilst carrying out services.
Future career and study opportunities
Once you have achieved Level 1 Functional Skills in English and E3 Maths as a minimum, you could progress to the Level 2 Certificate in Hairdressing or the Level 2 Certificate in Barbering.
