NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Sport City of Bristol CollegeStudents will complete both practical and theory units of the course covering health, nutrition, strength and conditioning, human body systems, personal exercise and fitness and taking part in sport.

Who is this course for?
This course is for young people aged 16-18. You should be interested in finding out about working in sports, fitness and health, and be committed to learning and developing personally to increase your future employment opportunities and further study options.
What you'll learn
You will learn about the sports and fitness industry, including developing your own personal and practical skills.
You will learn about training for fitness and playing sport, how exercise affects the body.
You will also develop a personal progression plan and work to strengthen the skills you need, for example improve your organisation, communications and employability skills.
Course entry requirements
3 x GCSEs at grades 1 to 3 including Maths and English, or previous vocational qualification.However, if you don’t have any formal qualifications, don’t worry, simply let us know and we can assess you to ensure that you will be able to achieve well on the course.
We will invite you to a course information meeting event where you will receive information, advice and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to tour our excellent facilities and ask any questions you may have.
You will be asked to provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

How is the course delivered and assessed?
Written course work including: posters, booklets, written documents, small group presentations and practical observations.
Future career and study opportunities
Your next steps will depend on the level of learning and personal development which you reach and the qualifications you have gained. You could progress to a Level 2 course, you could seek an Apprenticeship to train while you work, or you might prefer to go directly into employment. We will support and guide you to achieve your potential and your goals.
Additional costs
As a City of Bristol College student, you may incur additional costs to attend your course. For example, it is likely you may need to pay for travel and stationery. For the level 1 Fitness Diploma you will be required to purchase City of Bristol College branded activity wear. Many courses offer learning opportunities that you may need to pay for. This may include things like study visits and visiting speakers. We will let you know in advance if there will be additional costs.
