City of Bristol College and its solution-focused subsidiary, Partners in Bristol (PiB), have formed a unique partnership with the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic in a bid to support the healthcare sector. Through this partnership, PiB created a bespoke delivery model to support existing facilities staff at UHBW to gain their functional skills English qualifications and to help them improve their overall English skills.
The subsidiary also worked in conjunction with the Department for Work and Pensions to run a sector-based work academy programme (SWAP) to support the recruitment of cleaning and catering assistants. The course qualifies learners to work in the hospital hospitality sector and to gain strong employability skills.
