Why you should study at degree level with City of Bristol College
You don’t have to go to university to get a degree. We’ve been delivering Higher Education (HE) for more than 15 years, and when you study your degree-level course with us, you’ll benefit from smaller class sizes, affordable fees and teaching from expert lecturers. We recognise that the usual three-year university model doesn’t work for every student, so we offer the option to study and work alongside each other to make Higher Education accessible to everyone.
With Centres across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, you could be:
- immersed in the city at College Green Centre
- close to Gloucester Road at our Ashley Down Centre
- in the heart of south Bristol’s buzzing Hengrove Park at our award-winning South Bristol Skills Academy, or our brand-new Advanced Construction Skills Centre
- experiencing the latest technology at our Advanced Engineering Centre
Our University Centre offers full and part-time university-level courses, with financial support available for students who need it.
1. Study at degree level
Our courses are validated by our university partners, including UWE Bristol, Bath Spa University, University of Plymouth and Pearson. As a student with these institutions, you’ll have access to university resources, too.
2. We have excellent standards
We have been awarded the UK Quality Assured mark to reflect the excellent standard of our higher education courses.
3. Be taught by specialists
Our lecturers are experts in their fields, who continue to practice in their industries alongside teaching our higher education students.
4. Our courses are relevant
In the latest National Student Survey, 85% of our students agree their course had provided them with opportunities to apply what they had learned – above the 76% national average.
5. We’re for everyone
We offer full-time and part-time course options to suit a variety of needs, across age groups and career stages. Whether you’re 18 and at the start of your career, or a mature student looking to upskill or re-train while working, we have a course that will help you reach your goals and achieve your potential.
6. Small classes
You won’t get lost in the crowd at City of Bristol College. Our smaller class sizes mean we can help our students as individuals, and there are more opportunities for questions, peer discussions, and really getting to grips with your subject.
7. HE support services
We have a dedicated student welfare support team who are available to listen, support, advise and generally point you in the right direction when you need them.
8. We’re affordable
We champion affordable tuition fees to make sure our courses are open and accessible to more people. You won’t be priced out by extortionate costs, and we offer special bursaries for some pre-existing students, including our Higher Education Progression Bursary.
9. We’re employer-focused
We’re committed to your progression and success beyond College. We’re passionate about providing not just courses but careers, and pride ourselves on our excellent links with employers across the region to develop the workforce of the future.
10. Bristol is the best
Maybe we’re biased, but we think Bristol is the best! Big enough to be immersive and small enough to feel like home, Bristol is home to some of the country’s best music venues, bars, restaurants and theatres, and well-connected to the rest of the UK too.
