About the course

This short course covers the main studio photography genres - portraiture, still life, fashion and product photography including lighting.

What will I do on this course?

You will have workshops / practical sessions and short lectures. Some background reading may be required.The course will begin with the basics and move rapidly through the studio genres - portraiture, still life, fashion and product photography. Also covered will be the application of lighting knowledge to location work using speedlights (portable flash).

It may be an opportunity to begin to develop a personal portfolio.

Who is it for?

Anyone from competent beginners to professionals looking to improve their studio photography skills for practical reasons, eg for web content, or artistic exploration and personal development.

How Is this course assessed?

No assessment, just learning through creation of images.

What could I do next?

For mature students with related experience it may be possible to progress to the Foundation Degree in Professional Photography in Partnership with Plymouth University.

Additional cost

You need your own camera. There may be printing costs required depending on how the work develops.
