Maintenance Operations Engineering Technician Apprenticeship

This course is for people who are employed as a Level 3 Apprentice in an engineering role.

It will give you the technical and practical skills required to work within the area of engineering that relates to your apprenticeship. You must be prepared to commit at least three years to the course and maintain motivation throughout. You will need to be capable of using your own initiative.

You will gain a good grounding in the area of engineering that relates to your apprenticeship.

In the first year, you will mostly be at college, learning the technical and practical skills.

In the second year you will continue acquiring technical competence through day-release to College.

In the third year you’ll be in the workplace full-time, working towards completing the Level 3Apprenticeship.

You should have GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above in Maths, Science and English.

You must also give a good performance in our engineering aptitude test.

Your technical theory will be demonstrated by the completion of projects and assignment work.

Practical work will be demonstrated and evidenced by proving your competence in the workplace. You may also need to complete self-study guides in engineering practice, and gain functional skills as appropriate.

Many Level 3 Apprentices progress to higher technical courses (HNC or degree), or to higher-level apprenticeships.

Others secure positions such as installation and commissioning technicians.

As a City of Bristol College apprentice, you may incur additional costs on your apprenticeship. For example, it is likely you may need to pay for travel and stationery, and for some apprenticeships you may need to purchase specialist equipment.
