City of Bristol College demonstrates support of LGBTQIA+ community with pride

This month, City of Bristol College attended and supported Bristol Pride 2023. In addition to our support of the event over previous years, this year we returned with increased support as the Youth Area Partner.

Returning as a partner gave us an incredible opportunity to connect further with the local and wider community as allies by wholeheartedly supporting and championing the LGBTQIA+ attendees.

The Pride Day Youth Area offered a safe space for young people to be who they truly are whilst celebrating Pride. The dedicated area was an alcohol-free zone for those who are aged 13 – 25, offering a space for attendees to re-charge and reset away from the hustle and bustle of the festivities.

Here we hosted optional activities in the area including face painting, flag designing and giant games available to play.

We could also be found at an additional standalone stall facing the main stage; a place where we handed out merchandise and engaged with those around us, joining in with the celebratory atmosphere.

Sponsoring Bristol Pride meant that as a college, we could lend a helping hand and play a crucial part in investing so that the event can take place for future generations. By doing so, we are also further enhancing our support for local communities and charitable organisations.

The college’s award-winning campaign #EveryoneBelongs stands for a key message that demonstrates our college values, mission and ethos; the concept in its entirety that everyone truly does belong at City of Bristol College.

This message is not something just for Pride month, #EveryoneBelongs is a key message that represents all individuals, the pride of all, equality, diversity and inclusion as a topic for every day.
