About the course

It teaches you how to create 'advanced' 2D drawings using: model & paper space, block attributes, etc. whilst collaborating with others, within AutoCAD. Learning is through hands on use of AutoCAD, all under the guidance of an Autodesk Approved Instructor. Some basic AutoCAD drafting experience is required. This is a flexi course - you will be able to book 20 sessions to use within 12 months of booking. All of our tutors are Autodesk Approved Instructors.

Entry Requirements

It is recommended that you have:

  • the ability to use Windows based computers confidently
  • completed course 2D Level 2
  • a working understanding of English & maths
What will I do on this course?

You will learn how to create & collaborate on CAD design drawings using AutoCAD in 2D, covering:

  • Creating and Editing Attributed Blocks
  • Using X-Refs in AutoCAD for collaboration with other drawings
  • Isometric Drawing
  • Plotting: Paper Space, Limits, Layouts and Viewport / Layer control
  • Introduction, Properties Palette and Editing
  • Importing & Tracing Raster Images
  • Importing Text Files
  • Drawing management: Rename, Purge, Views and Saving Named UCS
Who is it for?

This course is designed for experienced AutoCAD users looking to improve their existing AutoCAD knowledge, to a nationally recognised standard. It is a cross industry course, suitable for Construction, Mechanical, Engineering, etc. industries.

How to apply

You will need an interview for this course. Interviews are held on  every Tuesday (term time only) at 4pm in the CAD room at College Green (Room 6W9). Please also note that are open during summer holidays. You don't need to book in advance, but allow at least 1 hour  - the time required depends on the number of interviewees who arrive on the day.

How Is this course assessed?

You will work through 2 practical assessments and a multi-choice examination
