About the course

This qualification provides candidates with knowledge of basic Health and Safety practices that are essential in the workplace. This includes identifying the hazards and risks presented in the workplace along with awareness of the relevant legislation, and looking at cost effective ways of overcoming issues. All our Trainers are NEBOSH qualified and take an active interest in current health and safety legislation.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirement. Our Courses are run monthly, throughout the year. 

What will I do on this course?

You will be covering the following areas: 

  • Understand the importance of Health and Safety
  • Be aware of the legal responsibilities of an organisation
  • Recognise the cause of accidents and prevention measures
  • Understand and implement the requirements of the Health and Safety Act at Work 


Who is it for?

The qualification is applicable for any private or public sector work place and provides employees with an awareness of their own safety, as well as the safety of fellow employees, customers, contractors and members of the public. Securing the qualification will enable learners to work safely and to recognise and deal with hazards in the workplace themselves. All of our courses are available at college centres across Bristol or at your place of work (provided the environment is suitable).

How Is this course assessed?

You will be assessed by a multiple choice question paper. 

What could I do next?

Progression from this qualification is our IOSH 4 day course which is for those who are in a supervisory/management role within their workplace.
