About the course

If you are looking for a career in the Body and Paint industry, this course is the ideal starting point. During the course you will learn a wide range of relevant practical skills in our fully equipped workshops, covering preparation, body repair, and bare metal repairs. These skills will then be backed up with theory sessions in the classroom. It is not all work though, you will be given the opportunity to go on external visits to active workshops.

Entry Requirements

You must have :

  • 3 GCSEs at grades 9-3 including Maths and English or equivalent (L1 Functional Skills)
What will I do on this course?

This programme will provide you with knowledge and practical training required to get you started on the pathway of a qualification. You will study many different ways; practical tasks, assignment work, group activities, use of internet and self-study. On our programme you will undertake a number of modules and you will be required to be successful in all of them in order to obtain the qualification.

  • Remove and refit vehicle body panels
  • Cosmetic filler repair
  • Mig welding joints
  • Resistance spot welding
  • Remove and refit mechanical electrical trim (MET) components
  • Remove and refit interior trims
  • Panel beating techniques
  • Panel preparation for paint
  • Basic paint application techniques
Who is it for?

This course is aimed at 16-18 year old or Adults interested in Body and Paint. You should have the desire to learn and develop practical skills in Body Repair. You will need to be a committed and determined person who wants to succeed and has the ability to work as part of a team.

On interview you will be required to bring with you your latest report from School or college and be prepared to take a Mechanical Aptitude test along with English and Maths Assessment
