Professional chefs will take City Restaurant diners on a culinary adventure as they work side-by-side with City of Bristol College’s catering and hospitality students this year.
After a year-long hiatus, the Catering and Hospitality team has revealed the autumn term list of talented industry professionals who will support students to deliver five-star quality food to paying customers at the College Green restaurant, off Anchor Road.
The City Restaurant is open to the public from 6.30pm for just the gourmet dinners this term as it continues to return to normality after being closed.
Gourmet dinners are a four-course set menu planned by the guest chefs. Dishes are produced by the catering students under the watchful eye of the guest and lecturer chefs, who offer advice and guidance to help them hone and develop their skills.
Hospitality students will then serve the diners and use the opportunity to develop their practical and customer service skills.
Each chef hails from a different background, with some even holding Michelin stars of their own, and guests are guaranteed to enjoy a range of different cuisines from around the world, including Jamaican and Mauritian.
The first gourmet evening will be held on 4 November with Chef Neufville from Rice and Things and the autumn term will finish with one of the College’s own, MasterChef contestant Chef Jamaar, joining the students on 16 December.
Two of the gourmet evenings are currently pegged as private events but there may be an opportunity to book a table closer to the time.
Catering lecturer, Ryan Fernandes, said: “It has been a long year without our gourmet dinners but we are very excited to be able to welcome our guests back after so long. These evenings are invaluable to our students as they learn key skills they may not come across in an everyday kitchen.
