About the course

This course will provide you with the skills needed to be involved with networks, database system design and implementation, software development and website development. The full time course is taught over two years. 

The programme is studied full time over two years, there is also the option of achieving it over three years part time.

Entry Requirements

Students usually need one or more of the following:

  • 56 UCAS Points
  • Access to Higher Education Diploma in an appropriate pathway.
  • Oveseas students must have an English language level of IELTS 6.0 or another recognised equivalent.
  • Related employment and qualifications welcomed.

Applicants would normally have:

  • 5 GCSEs grades 9 - 4 or equivalent to include English and Maths

What will I do on this course?


Stage 1

During the course you will study a range of modules.  Study will involve learning by undertaking projects or work placements in a computing-rich, commercial environment. Modules may include:


1st Year

2nd Year

Who is it for?

This course is intended for those who wish to pursue a career in the technical side of computing including software development, installation and support.

What could I do next?

After successful completion, you could go on to study the final year of the BSc (Hons) Computing at the University of Plymouth.  There may be opportunities for a placement between completing your Foundation Degree and commencing the final year of your Honours Degree. Progression to other universities may also be possible.  You may also have the opportunity to gain employment in a range of careers.
